Bites Nearby: Pizzeria Fondi

The Super Bowl is this Sunday, and what you eat during the game can be as important as your team winning the shiny Vince Lombardi Trophy. And pizza is a no brainer for any hungry football fan. I mean, the Green Bay Packers are playing and it can't get any cheesier than that. If you plan to watch the game at home, pick up any two pizzas for just $20 on Super Bowl Sunday.

Overview: Pizzeria Fondi is located in the heart of Uptown Gig Harbor off of Point Fosdick Drive. It has a clean open feel that's modern, yet inviting to diners of all ages. The restaurant also has an outdoor seating area for a gorgeous summer day. When you walk in, you order up front, but pay after you eat.

Drinks: The pizzeria offers a wide range of Italian wines, also draft beer and expresso.

Entrees: The menu covers everything from the chopped salad to its famous bruschettas, and you can never go wrong with its Neapolitan pizzas. The crust is made fresh daily with Caputo flour, and you can watch the chefs toss the dough behind the open pizza bar. The oven heats up to more than 700 degrees so if you sit at the bar, you'll definitely feel the heat! 

The workers at the restaurant said the key to crafting the perfect pizza is all about flavor combinations. Some of its most popular pizzas include the Milano (Pepperoni, Italian sausage, herb roasted chicken), the Gustoso (Pancetta, caramelized onions, artichoke hearts) and the Sausage & Mushroom.

The restaurant also has a special deal that would be perfect for a date night. It's called "Dinner for Two", which includes pizza, salad and drinks, including beer and wine for just $20. If you bring the whole family, there's also a kids menu.

Desserts: Olympic Mountain Creamery makes 12 exclusive flavors of gelato and sorbet for Pizzeria Fondi. The flavors rotate depending on the season.
