Gig Harbor Students to Skate at 'Reflections on Ice'

After a four-year hiatus, Reflections on Ice returns to Sprinker Recreation Center this weekend.

Four Gig Harbor students will be participating in a figure skating show production, Reflections on Ice, this weekend.

Cutter Peterson, a kindergartener at Harbor Heights Elementary; Ainsley Peterson, a 3rd grader at Harbor Heights Elementary; Ashley Haywood, a 6th grader at Goodman Middle School; and Kristin Baker, a 7th grader at Harbor Ridge Middle School are all members of the Lakewood Winter Club.

Their “home rink” at Sprinker Recreation Center recently re-opened after major renovations completed during the last six months of 2011. The facility received a new roof, lighting, sound, remodeled bathrooms and completely new ice with an updated cooling system.

The Reflections on Ice show is a full production that used to be an annual event but has been on hiatus for the last 4 years. It will be an exciting show that celebrates the “new” Sprinker, along with a new group of up-and-coming skaters that include these four Gig Harbor students.

There will be several guest performers but most notable is Jozef Sabovcik, European Champion and Olympic Bronze Medalist. There are a total of 5 shows to choose from:

  • Friday, Feb. 10 at 4 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.,
  • Saturday, Feb. 11 at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.
  • Sunday, Feb. 12 at 2 p.m.

Tickets are $18 for on-ice seating and $12 for balcony seating. To buy your tickets, call Sprinker Recreation Center directly at 253-798-4000.
