International officers headlined the ceremony installing the 2012-2013 officers for Altrusa International of Gig Harbor on Tuesday, May 22.
All the way from New Zealand, Leanne Milligan, who is the international organization’s treasurer, presided over the club’s installation held at Harbor Place. She was joined by the International President-Elect, Ilona Kirby, from Longview-Kelso’s club.
Officers installed for the local organization’s coming year were President Shawn Contento, 1st Vice President Pat Jones, 2nd Vice President Anna Shumaker, Secretary Pat Schmidt, Treasurer Dyane Nauman, and Director Jan Hohman. Virginia Hardy continues to serve as a Director, and Nancy Hohenstein is Past President.
Altrusa International of Gig Harbor celebrated 30 years of service in Gig Harbor in 2011, promoting leadership, volunteerism and service to the local community. Among its contributions are a continuing scholarship fund for the Peninsula Youth Orchestra, the equipping of the commercial kitchen at the Boys & Girls Club, the Goodman Mentorship program and A.S.K. (Altrusa Serving Kids) providing school supplies and basic clothing needs year round to five schools in the Peninsula School District.
The annual Holiday Tour of Homes each December helps fund the club’s work.
