Holiday Light Recycling

A holiday light recycling drive being held at the SAVE Thrift Store in Purdy is paying big dividends. The proceeds will fund higher education scholarships for Peninsula High School seniors. Enough lights have been received so far to create two awards, and, with the help of the community, at least one more is possible before the program closes in early February.

Similar to a project run at Pt. Defiance Zoo in Tacoma, the holiday light strands collected in Purdy will be recycled so the precious metals and plastics they contain can be reused rather than adding bulk to landfills.

If you have holiday light strands to discard, bring them to SAVE Thrift Store in Purdy between 10 a.m. & 4 p.m. Monday through Saturday through the month of January 2011. The shop is located just below on Purdy Lane. Phone 253 857 2800 for additional details.

No problem. Welcome Brent. By the way, I'm a graphic artist, have any need for ad design?
