  • Why Go: Make, learn about and take home a musical instrument this Saturday with the Soundbridge Seattle Symphony Music Discovery Center staff as they host an Instrument Making Workshop at the Gig Harbor Library.
  • Pricing: Free. Grades K – 8. No registration required.

  • Where/When: 4-6 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 12 at .
  • Why Go: Visit Morso this Saturday for an artist reception with local Northwest artists, Sharon Carr, Joan Teed and William Turner. Meet, mingle with friends, enjoy some wine and view this stunning collection of art. The exhibit runs daily from Nov. 12 – Dec. 31.

  • Why Go: This Veterans Day, Peninsula Hands on Art will be hosting two free movies for the kids at Galaxy Theatre. The featured films will be RIO starting at 8:30 a.m. and The Incredibles starting at 9 a.m.
  • Pricing: This is a FREE event with donations being accepted for Peninsula Hands On Art. All seating will be on a "first come, first serve" basis.



  • Why Go: Join Peace of the Earth Farm this Sunday for a Fiber Spinning Workshop from 2-4 p.m. Topics covered in the workshop will include: Spinning wool fiber with a spindle and spinning wheel, fiber processing, and plying spun wool. All students will get to spin a bit of wool and take home their very first skien of yarn.
  • Pricing: Full tuition for the workshop is $30 and includes a spindle and some wool, half tuition is available for $15 and includes the workshop but no spindle.

 

  • Where/When: 11 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 11 at .
  • Why Go: Boy Scout Troop 282, chartered by the , will be hosting a Veterans Day Ceremony at Skansie Brothers Park on Friday. The event begins at 11 a.m. and will include a traditional flag retirement ceremony.

  • Where/When: All day on Friday, Nov. 11 at .
  • Why Go: In honor of Veterans Day, Massage Envy will be offering free one-hour massage sessions to active personnel, veterans and their spouses. The event requires an appointment, so make sure to call the local branch ahead of time at 253-853-4555.

  • Where/When: 2 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 11 at .
  • Why Go: Come hear firsthand about life in a World War II labor camp this Veterans Day at this free author event at the Key Center Library. Dr. John K. Stutterheim will talk about his experiences as an internee in a Japanese labor camp when he was a teenager. During his imprisonment, he kept a secret diary, and he recorded his memories in his book, Diary of Prisoner 17326: A Boy's Life in a Japanese Labor Camp.
  • Pricing: Admission is free. Copies of the book will be available for sale and signing. Friends of the Key Center Library sponsor this free event.
