  • Where/When: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 20, Longbranch Improvement Club Clubhouse, 4312 Key Peninsula Hwy S
  • Why Go: The Key Peninsula Community Services is hosting its 26th annual Old Timers Day. The event features logging demonstrations, food and craft booths and silent auctions.
  • Cost: Free to attend

 

  • Where/When: 12 p.m. to sundown, Saturday, Aug. 20, on the waters of Puget Sound off Cutts Island
  • Why Go: Hop on a boat or any floating device to enjoy some music on the water. The festival features , Ben Union, Big Wheel Stunt Show, Wooster, and SweetKiss Momma. All profits benefit Girls Campaign, an Gig Harbor-based organization to help girls and women in developing countries. Make sure to follow boating rules and wear life jackets. And as always, no drinking and driving.

  • Why Go: Attention bargain shoppers: Altrusa of Gig Harbor's annual garage sale is here! Items on sale include furniture, home décor, kitchen utensils, garden tools, toys and more. The event will the club and assist the club Foundation’s community projects.
  • Cost: Free to attend

 

  • Where/When: 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 20,
  • Why Go: Hosting a sushi party anytime soon? Learn the basic skills at Bella Kitchen Essentials. By the end of the night, you'll get to craft your own veggie, California and Spicy Tuna rolls.
  • Cost: $75

 

  • Where/When: 9 a.m. Sat, Aug. 20 at Cheney Stadium in Tacoma.
  • Why Go: Help bring greater awareness to colon cancer this Saturday at the second annual run. Participants are encouraged to run in their undies but it's not required. You can wear boxer shorts, colorful boxer briefs, logo-branded shorts for corporate teams, or even boxer shorts over your favorite running pants. It's your call. Not feeling like running a full 5K? Try registering for the one-mile fun run instead.
  • Cost: Registration for the run ranges between $20 and $40.
