Grab and Go Kid's Planner, July 13th

Summer, summer, summer time.

Hankering to sneak away for a midweek day-cay with the kids?

Maybe just an hour or two to spare? There's plenty going on around town to keep life interesting and enriching.

Bond. Relax. Enjoy your week. Patch found a few "must-do's".

Why Go: Day Camps, swimming, sports and more. You can spend time together doing family activities or letting the young 'un enjoy a day retreat with their peers. From tot to teen, YMCA has a little something for everyone all in one spot.

Price: Cost per activity and membership may vary.

 

When/Where: 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. Saturday along the sidewalks of Gig Harbor’s Historic Waterfront District.

Why Go: Remember summer hopscotch and patterns leading up to the front door of your home as a kid? Saturday you have free reign to adorn the cities sidewalks with your own masterpiece. Free chalk will be available and lots of surface space. An opportunity to enjoy the summer day and express the artist in each of you. Make a family mural!

Price: Free.

 

Explore the Shore

When/Where: 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., July 14 at Owen Beach in Point Defiance Park at 5605 N Owen Beach Rd.

Why: Go explore the low tide beach where the kids will learn about tide pool animals and upload the information to the Nature Mapping database. After the Explore the Shore, take your kids to the Point Defiance Zoo (admission rates apply) to see more marine life. The event is free and all ages are welcome. No registration is required. Just show up and come prepared with sunscreen and appropriate shoes and clothes.

Price: Free


When/Where: 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m., tonight at the U.P. Public Safety Building, 3631 Drexler Drive W.

Why Go: Warthog does BBQ right. And residents get to dine some yummy summer favorites for $15 per person with proceeds going to benefit University Place Senior Center.

Price: $15 per person.


Lakewood's Brightest Star

When/Where: 6:30 p.m., next Tuesday at American Lake Park.

Why Go: Local Talent Competition Finals in an outdoor venue. The lake, park, playground. Who could ask for more?

Price: Free (rain or shine).
