Grab and Go Kid's Planner, July 6th

Theater, music, movies and more. Patch has dug up some amazing summer activities for you and the family.

As our comfy peak summer heat has decided, it's here to stay for now. There are tons of outdoor activities for the whole family to attend.

Soak in some local culture, watch a flick or shake your groove thing.

It's summertime!

 

When/Where: 6 p.m. - 8 p.m. Thursday under the pavilion at Uptown Gig Harbor.

Why Go: The Shy Boys will be kicking off this outdoor summer concert series with some classic rock and roll. Free live music while enjoying some sunshine. Enough said.

Price: Free.

 

When/Where: 9:15 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

Why Go: Another kick off to an outdoor series of events begin this Friday with the family flick "Yankee Doodle Dandy" at . On Saturday, come catch "Despicable Me" featuring Steve Carrell at . Activities include free popcorn, water and soda courtesy of the Gig Harbor Kiwanis Club and Kitsap Bank. Don't forget to bring blankets and an extra sweatshirt as the evening may get a bit chilly once the sun goes down.

Price: Free.

 

When/Where: 10 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. Weekly, Tuesday through Friday at .

Why Go: Helping to build confidence and skill level in young aspiring actors, this workshop, led by Kathleen McGillard, is designed to help personal performance growth.

Price: $45 (appropriate for ages 4 - 7 years old).

 

The Jungle Book Musical

When/Where: 4 p.m. Saturday at the Theater on the Square.

Why Go: Broadway Center Conservatory's Summer Musical Theatre Camp presents its live public showing of a children book classic. The song and number dances will showcase the skills and confidence students have learned throughout the course work. Musical adaptation from Bryan Willis and Edd Key revamp the classic tale of Mowgli and his friends.

Price: $18 per seat.

 

Art on the Ave

When/Where: 11 a.m. - 5 p.m. Sunday on 6th Avenue in Tacoma.

Why Go: Live music, performance art, film, visual arts, vendors, crafts, food and more! There's a little something for everyone at the closed off section of 6th Avenue to celebrate Tacoma's artistic gems and local businesses. Not to mention with this year's theme of our beloved furry family pets, there will also be a doggie fashion show, dog photography and much, much more. It's a day out for the whole family!

Price: Free.
