Grab and Go Kid's Planner, March 16

Patch has put together another installment of our family calender.

Now that the daylight saving time is in place, spring is just around the corner. And that means plenty of fun outdoor activities for the whole family. So put on your light coats  and a hat and lets go outside.

When/Where: 9:30 p.m. - midnight on Friday, March 18 at Gig Harbor Family YMCA

Why Go: High school kids, 9th through 12th grade, are invited to participate in the dodgeball tournament at the Y. There must be nine players per team with at least three girls on the roster. Kids of all ages are welcome to cheer on the participants. Those who are 8th grade or younger must be accompanied by an adult. The event raises money for the Strong Kids Campaign, which is organized by a Gig Harbor High School senior, Danie Moon. There will be raffle prizes, food and music by DJ Spark.

Price: $100 per team ($11 per player) Pre-registration is due Wednesday, March 16 (see the registration brochure attached.) To watch the tournament, admission is $1 for YMCA members and $2 for non-members.

When/Where: 10 a.m. - 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Sehmel Homestead Park.

Why Go: Thirty minutes weekly will help your preschooler build concepts of team while working on their coordination and development and super fun group play with a soccer ball.

Price: $70 (ages 3 1/2 to 5-years-old).

 



When/Where: 11:15 a.m. - 11:45 a.m. on Thursday at Sehmel Homestead Park.

Why Go: Fun group activity and games with the soccer ball help our toddlers develop and have a great time AND Mom and Dad can get in on the action!

Price: $70 (ages 2 to 3 1/2-years-old).

 

Gig Harbor Peninsula Civic Orchestra Concert

When/Where: 7 p.m. on Saturday, March 19, at the auditorium.

Why Go: Bring the entire family for a night filled with classical music. This is's second concert of its season. Here's the rundown of the program:

  • Romance by Dvorak
  • Symphony No. 8 by Dvorak
  • Slavonic Dance No. 3 by Dvorak
  • Hungarian Dance No. 1 by Brahms

Price: Free

 



When/Where: 8 a.m. Saturday beginning in Orting Eagles Lodge Parking Lot.

Why Go: The fun run is hosted by the Pierce County Parks & Recreation. It benefits recreation programs for local youths. It'll be a great way to get the whole family out and moving. The starting spot will be at 112 Bridge St. S. Check-ins open at 8 a.m., and the race will begin at 9 a.m. For registration information, click here.
