Grab & Go Kids Planner, Feb. 9

Patch gives you ideas for events that you can enjoy with your whole family.

Valentine's Day is swiftly approaching, so we found some events for you and the kids to enjoy together before the romantic evening. It's family friendly fun to be had by all. 

When/Where: 6 p.m. - 9 p.m. Weekly on Friday nights (naturally) at the Key Peninsula Civic Center.

Why Go: From elementary age to middle school, who doesn't love to strap on some wheels and hang out with friends? Not to mention munchies available.

Price: $5 (Includes skates).

When/Where: 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 12 at the Harbor History Museum.

Why Go: Hands on crafts for all ages with the opportunity to recreate vintage Valentine's cards to tell someone just how much you care.

Price: Museum Admission

When/Where: Saturday, Feb. 12 at the Point Defiance Zoo and Aquarium. Special activities will happen through-out the day, see schedule below:

  • 11:30 a.m.    Walruses will receive heart-shaped treats and get their teeth brushed. 
  • 12:30 p.m.    Tiger cubs will enjoy whipping-cream hearts.
  • 1:00 p.m.      Red wolves will receive heart-shaped scented enrichments.
  • 2:00 p.m.      Elephants will enjoy bamboo valentine enrichments.

Why Go: Some of the animals at the zoo will be receiving specials treats from their handlers for Valentine's day that will encourage them to interact with their environment. It's sure to be fun and educational.

Price: Zoo Admission $5.75 - $11.75.

Spybotics

When/Where: 9 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, Feb.12 held at .

Why Go: Build a lego spybot and play detective while using newly acquired skills in technology and teamwork? Heck yea, did I mention you can make a spybot!?

Price: $62 (includes supplies). Appropriate for ages 5-12 years, bring a sack lunch.

When/Where: 5 p.m. - 6 p.m. Sunday,Feb. 13 at .

Why Go: Boys and Girls, from ages 4-6 years, can learn the fundamentals of the game and team work and burn off some steam.

Price: $15 (includes Impact tee and basketball).
