Good news, park users - you can now reserve ball fields at Crescent Creek Park.

The City of Gig Harbor announced last week that it's undergoing a pilot project that allows for ball field reservations at the park, located at 3303 Vernhardsen St.

The city has developed this pilot project to provide for ease of park use amongst all community members, it says. The policies as part of the project are required to ensure proper use and control of the facility so that all citizens may equally enjoy them.

There are no fees associated with ball field reservations and ball field use. Crescent Creek Park’s baseball field consists of one youth baseball field, bleachers for viewing and restroom facilities.

The reservations are to be made on a first come first serve basis and are available in 1.5 hour time slots.  Field availability isMonday – Friday: noon to dusk and Saturday 8am to dusk.  No reservations will be scheduled on Sundays.  Any unreserved time slots are open on a first-come first-served basis at the field.  In order to reserve space you must provide a completed and signed reservation application to the City Public Works Department.

To access a reservation application form and review further requirements for use of ball fields during the pilot project, please visit the City’s website at www.cityofgigharbor.net and enter "BALL FIELD RESERVATIONS" in the search field.  This pilot project will last for one year (July 1, 2013 through June 30, 2014).  At the end of the one year pilot project, the Parks Commission and City Council will review the results of the pilot project and assess the possible continuation of a field reservation program.
