State Cancels Eastbound State Route 16 Closures Wednesday, Thursday

But from 12:01 a.m. to 5:30 a.m., Saturday, crews will close all lanes of eastbound SR 16 at South Union Avenue and the Union Avenue on-ramp.

This week’s construction and closure schedule for eastbound State Route 16 has been modified based on construction progress in the I-5/SR 16 Eastbound Nalley Valley project.

Total eastbound SR 16 closures previously scheduled to occur tonight and tomorrow night have been cancelled, as well as the accompanying closures scheduled for the South Union Avenue on-ramp to eastbound SR 16.

On Saturday, scheduled night closures will still occur and will begin an hour earlier than previously announced. From 12:01 a.m. to 5:30 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 10, crews will close all lanes of eastbound SR 16 at South Union Avenue and the Union Avenue on-ramp to eastbound SR 16. The closure will be repeated from 12:01 a.m. to 7 a.m. on Sunday, Aug. 11.

Previously announced closures of city streets will also still occur to ensure the safety of the traveling public.  At 9 p.m. each night through Friday, Aug. 9, crews will close all lanes of South Center Street between South Pine Street and South Wilkeson Street, and traffic will be detoured via South Tacoma Way. South Center Street will reopen by 4:30 a.m. each following morning.

Then from 11 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 10, until 7 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 11, South Center Street will again be closed and motorists will use the same detour route.
