Flintknapping: Make Stone Tools

Where/When: Gig Harbor Pierce County Library; Saturday, Nov. 10 from 10:30 a.m.

Why Go: A skilled craftsman will demonstrate how to make stone tools. Learn the prehistoric art of stone tool making, or flintknapping, with master flintknapper Harry Oda. Online registration required. Participants should bring work gloves and eye protection; all other supplies will be provided. Older children may attend with a parent.

CHEW Dog Rescue Adoption Outreach Event

Where/When: Mud Bay; Saturday, Nov. 10 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Why Go: Stop by Gig Harbor Mud Bay for CHEW Adoption Outreach Day and meet its new dogs! Theyehave a dobie mix, lab mix, cattle dog mix, a few small terrier mixes and a couple of little poodle mixes. Donations of leashes, collars, old towels, blankets and cash are appreciated. You can also sponsor a dog or become a foster home!

A Musical Journey with Michael Fitzpatrick: A Benefit Concert for Harbor History Museum

Where/When: Harbor History Museum; Saturday, Nov. 10 from 3:30 to 5 p.m. 

Why Go: Cellist Michael Fitzpatrick has performed around the world, including on the West Lawn of the United States Capitol and at the Hollywood Bowl. He is the Recipient of The Prince Charles Award conferred by H.R.H. The Prince of Wales. He has worked musically with His Holiness the Dalai Lama for the past 16 years on TUNING THE PLANET - the unprecedented East-West fusion project recorded & filmed inside the largest cave in the world.

Anne of Green Gables: A Musical

Where/When: Peninsula Lutheran Church – Fellowship Hall; Saturday, Nov. 10 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, Nov. 11 at 4 p.m.

Festival of Hope Fair Trade Sale

Where/When: Chapel Hill Presbyterian Church; Saturday, Nov. 10 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Sunday, Nov. 11 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Why Go: Chapel Hill is excited to host our 12th Annual Fair Trade Marketplace, where beautiful and useful products made by artisans and producers from around the globe can be purchased. It's a great place to jump start your holiday shopping, knowing that every dollar spent is an investment in sustainable economic development for those who most need it. Event includes Women's Breakfast on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. RSVP to Kathy at 253-853-0290.

Peninsula to Honor Veterans With Special Events

Where/When: Peninsula Retirement (3445 50th St. Ct. NW); Saturday, Nov. 10 at 4 p.m; Sunday, Nov. 11 and Tuesday, Nov. 13 at 11 a.m.

Why Go: Peninsula Retirement, an independent senior living community in Gig Harbor, invites area seniors to attend its November events as they honor veterans who have so bravely served. 

The events include:

  • Saturday, November 10 at 4 p.m.: Veteran's Fireside Chat  
  • Sunday, November 11 at 11 a.m.: Salute to Veterans BBQ
  • Tuesday, November 13 at 11 a.m.: Veterans Benefit Seminar

Peninsula Hands On Art 4th Annual Family Movie Day

Where/When: Galaxy Theatre; Monday, Nov. 12 at 9 a.m.

Why Go: The Peninsula Hands On Art will hosting its 4th Annual Family Movie Day on Nov. 12. The event will feature Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted at 9 a.m. on three screens; The Lorax Movie at 9:30 a.m. on three screens. All seating will be on a “first come, first serve” basis.  Doors open at 8:30 a.m. This is a FREE event with donations being accepted for Peninsula Hands On Art. Peninsula Hands On Art is made up of volunteers who provide four art projects per year to seven local elementary schools, reaching more than 3,000 students.
