Thousands of Fans Motor on Down to 'Wings & Wheels' Show

The inaugural event at Tacoma Narrows Airport included static displays on the tarmac, live entertainment and plenty of action on the runway and in the sky. Classic cars, custom motorcycles and vintage military aircraft kept the crowd busy all day Sunday.

Thousands of visitors turned out Sunday for the inaugural “” gathering of vintage aircraft and motor vehicles at .

Coinciding with today's Fourth of July "Freedom Fair" on Commencement Bay, Wings & Wheels featured aircraft fly-bys, plane and helicopter rides, and the chance for visitors to get up close and personal with vintage military aircraft and their pilots, as well as classic vehicles/custom motorcycles and their owners.

Doug Miller, executive director of the Tacoma Events Commission, said "Wings & Wheels," the first big gathering at Tacoma Narrows Airport in nearly 20 years, was organized to help underwrite the cost of today's air show.
