Win Tickets to the Puyallup Fair, 'Get Your Happy On!'

Patch is giving away dozens of tickets to the Puyallup Fair. Just sign up for a free email newsletter below for a chance to win.

We've heard the questions: What's been missing in my life these past few months? How can I put an exclamation point on my summer? And can that exclamation point include fried food on a stick?

Here at Patch, we have your answer. Better still, we'll give it to you for free.

Sign up for a Patch newsletter today and you will be entered to win one of dozens of free pairs of tickets to the Puyallup Fair, which runs Sept. 7-23. Even better, if you tell us why we should send your whole family, you'll get a chance to win the Patch Family Pack:

• four fair tickets (kids 5 and under are free, by the way)

• a Patch tote bag to hold those fair souvenirs

• assorted Patch goodies such as magnets, pens and balloons

• and a story and photo of you and your family on Gig Harbor Patch.

Here's how: Simply fill out the form for a chance to win a pair of tickets. If you want the family pack, write us a note in the comments section at the end of this story explaining in 200 words or less why Patch should send you and your family to the state's biggest fair.

Each Thursday for the next three weeks, through Sept. 13, we'll hand out one pair of tickets and one family pack to lucky winners from Gig Harbor. Winners will be notified by email.

See you at the Puyallup!

Here's the fine print (click on the attached PDF for complete official rules):

  • Open to legal residents of the 50 United States and the District of Columbia who are 18 and older.
  • To enter, sign up for the newsletter in the form above with your name, email and Patch town.

I always remember going to the fair as a child. It brings back such wonderful memories of fun family time spent together. We would love the opportunity to win tickets so that we can create those same special memories for our children.

I think any military deserves free passes to the fair. They already sacrifice so much! I vote for Erin's family :)

Me and my son moved to Washington a year ago. My husband is in the military and we've had to move around a lot. We decided to move to Washington so my son could have an easier time being close to our family in gig harbor and Seattle. We moved last July and we didn't have a chance to go to the fair during our transition here. My son is starting kindergarten next week and tickets to the fair would be a great start to the school year. I would also take his cousins along. Whoever gets the tickets will definitely be deserving. Everyone we've met here in Washington is so kind. We have loved making gig harbor our home.

We deserve to go because this is my Venezuelan husband's first year in the U.S. and he was just approved for his green card on Monday...what better way to celebrate his new U.S. residency than enjoying a wonderful all-American day at Puyallup fair? :-)

We deserve to win because we have lived in the state for 2 years now and haven't been able to attend do to financial issues. Our children have been begging to go since doing fun things like this aren't always in the cards financially unless they are free since my husband lost his job last year and has been working less hours for a new company. We love being here and would love for our children to experience the fair since 2 of our kiddos will be starting school this year. It would be a great end to a wonderful summer.

To answer Kirsi's comments, here's info for our military families. Free gate admission is offered to all active, reserve, and retired military and National Guard and their dependents, plus disabled veterans, when each shows valid military ID at any Fair gate. Military Appreciation Days are on Monday, Sept. 10 and 17.

I would actually like to nomitate a great person for these tickets. She is a single mother to a great son. She works harder than anyone i know. Last christmas she was the only reason my kids had a christmas. with out her i don't know what we would have done. she has even taught her son how to help others. they are so giving and i feel its time for them to have something in return. I know that she hasn't had as many hours and is having a little bit of a hard time, i would love to see her win these tickets! Her name is teresa n.

We recently moved to the neighborhood here in Gig Harbor and our boys are in a brand new school so everything has been a little more than hard on them emotionally. From the strange new house, to the stress of being the new kids in class & wanting to fit in. It would truly be a blessing to surprise them with tickets to give them that joy and fun of the Puyallup Fair. To see the smiles on their faces having fun would be wonderful.

Hello, I think my family deserves the family-fair-pack because we're a family of 4, I have 2 boys, a 4 year old and a 2 1/2 year old. My oldest son will be turning 5 in just 2 weeks and will also be starting preschool in just 2 weeks and I've really wanted to take him to the fair this year before he starts his 1st year of school with many many more years to come. He won't be home with me anymore and I just want to give him lots of fun things to do before he starts his school year. His Dad works very hard for our family and we haven't gotten to do very many fun things this summer. We've had lots of car issues so we've had to budget and cut back on stuff. The fair can get very pricey so I'd love to have a worry free experience and let my boys have so much fun together, to end our summer and start our school year. My sister-in-law just moved here from Pennsylvania with her 2 year old daughter and they are staying with us, we'd love to be able to have them go with us and show them how much fun this Fair is! I hope we get chosen, it would be so amazing! Thank you Gig Harbor Patch for offering this opportunity!

Ugh. That's not good, Starla. How many times a week do you and husband cross, or at least try toRead More cross that crosswalk.
Brooke Judge June 13, 2013 at 10:07 am
I have seen orange flags (like the kind you use on the boat with a water skier) used at crosswalksRead More in Redmond. Perhaps putting a PVC pipe in the ground on either side of the road or attached to the nearby sign posts with a few flags inside for you to hold out/carry to the other side when you're crossing would be helpful?
Starla Storset June 15, 2013 at 11:10 am
Brent, we cross it about at least once a week.
