Harbor History Museum: Through the Artists Eye

December 9, 2011 - January 22, 2012

Through the Artist;s Eye: The Holmaas Collection of Historic Renderings

For 45 years, Gig Harbor residents John and Carole Holmaas have commissioned local artists to create unique annual Christmas cards to send to family, friends, and business associates. Each card represents a part of Gig Harbor’s wonderful past. The process is simple, yet will provide an exhibit gallery full of wonderful pen and ink original artwork. Each year, John and Carole have selected an historic photograph from the collection of the Harbor History Museum and asked an artist to create the original artwork based on the photograph. In the exhibit, the historic photograph selected by John and Carole will be positioned next to the finished artwork. Visitors can compare the “original” with the historic rendering to see what the artist chose to include or exclude.  Please join us for this exceptional display of original artwork, graciously loaned to the museum by John and Carole Holmaas.
