Award-winning poet Todd Boss will read his poetry during a free event at Gig Harbor Pierce County Library, 4424 Point Fosdick Drive N.W., on Thursday, April 12, at 7 p.m.   Friends of the Gig Harbor Library sponsor this free event.

Boss’ first poetry collection, “Yellowrocket,” received acclaim from The Virginia Review and Minnesota Book Award. He has earned honors from Prairie Schooner Award, Pushcart Prize, Minnesota State Arts Board and Ragdale Foundation. National Public Radio and former U.S. poet laureate Ted Kooser’s newspaper column have featured his poetry.

Critic Elizabeth Lund observed that Boss “balances raw beauty with traditionally poetic topics: growing up on a farm, marriage and fatherhood. His writing aches with subtle music, insight and clear-sighted compassion.”

His professional writing career includes Georgia Poetry Circuit, Ashland University and Stonecoast MFA program at the University of Southern Maine. He cofounded and codirects Motionpoems, a new poetry film initiative. He lives in St. Paul, Minnesota, with his family.
