Veteran opera lecturer Norm Hollingshead will inform and entertain with an enthusiastic preview of the Seattle Opera production of Giacomo Puccini’s “Turandot.” Friends of the Libraries sponsor these free events.

Gig Harbor Pierce County Library, 4424 Point Fosdick Drive N.W. Sunday, July 22, 2 p.m.

Set in China’s Imperial City, Puccini’s spectacular masterpiece, “Turandot,” recounts the legend of a bloodthirsty princess whose icy, vengeful heart softens as she comes to know true love. The opera holds audiences spellbound with its lyrical and sweeping score, memorable melodies, stunning pageantry and passionate confrontations.
