Gig Harbor BoatShop Opens Boat-Building Workshops to Public

The Gig Harbor BoatShop will be accepting participants to help build a rowing boat with boat builder Tom Regan.

Gig Harbor BoatShop announces the Boat Builder for a Day workshop. On Saturday, March 3, boat builder Tom Regan and workshop participants will begin the boatbuilding process by setting up station molds for a classic 15’ 8” rowing boat. During the workshops Regan and students will use a combination of traditional and contemporary boat building techniques.

The workshop will be offered on most consecutive Saturdays until the boat is launched in mid-September. Students can sign up for one all-day session or for all the sessions. Throughout the workshop, the participants will learn how to set up a boat’s backbone, build the whole boat and even learn boat-building tasks.

“It’s a chance to build a boat without any of the commitments associated with building your own boat,” said Regan, who owns Grapeview Point Boat Works.
