Gig Harbor Hosts Sidewalk Chalk Paintings, Art Festival

Nearly a dozen sidewalk artists, including adults, children and professionals, spent Sunday brightening up the town's sidewalks with original chalk art.

Thousands of visitors converged on Gig Harbor for "" and the city's "" this weekend.

Sidewalks bordering Pioneer Way served as the canvas for a host of chalk paintings ranging from birds, to dogs, to portraits and even a crocodile. Nearby, under white canopies, 134 vendors displayed their arts and crafts.

"Chalk the Walk" was organized by the Gig Harbor Historic Waterfront Association, while the art festival was hosted by the Peninsula Art League. And Patch was on hand both days, of course, to capture the fun in photographs.
