Celeb Chef Gillespie Fired Up for Food Festival

Patch talked with Woodfire Grill Executive Chef/Owner Kevin Gillespie about coming to Gig Harbor, the virtues of pork, his love of barbecue and what his plans are for Saturday's Wine and Food Festival.

Kevin Gillespie, executive chef/owner of Atlanta's Woodfire Grill, arrived in Gig Harbor Friday afternoon, with plenty of time to settle in and "get in the zone" before taking on Chef Thad Lyman at the .

Patch caught up with him at the , where the event is being held. We talked with him about coming to Gig Harbor, the virtues of pork, his love of barbecue, his scheduled cooking demonstration and his competitive strategy for the cook-off.

"My plans for tomorrow are my plans for everything I do. I will figure it out when the time comes," Gillespie said. "I think one reason I did so well at Top Chef is that I excel at that cooking at the moment kind of thing and I didn’t want to change that."
