It’s Friday, and you have no idea what you’ll be doing this weekend? No sweat. Gig Harbor Patch is coming to the rescue. We’ve got the best bets for your done-work, outta-here time. Check our picks for the activities to hit and new bars/restaurants/shops to explore.

  • Where/When: 8-11 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 3 at the .
  • Why Go: Join Music by the Bay this Friday as it presents The Good Lovelies, Juno-award-winning Canadian folk trio! With equal parts city and country, highway and home, wistfulness and sass, the Good Lovelies' good humor and self-assurance shines through their music from start to finish. Enjoy the show!
  • Cost: $30 per ticket.

  • Where/When: 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 4 in Gig Harbor's Historic Waterfront.
  • Why Go: Just in time for Valentine's Day! Enjoy the decadent chocolate samples and tastes presented at each of the participating businesses. Purchase that perfect Valentine's Day gift as you stroll the beautiful Gig Harbor Historic Waterfront District and enjoy the wonderful waterfront restaurants for lunch or dinner! Pick up an entry form and map from any of the participating downtown waterfront businesses. Get the entry form validated at each business you visit to be eligible to win many wonderful prizes.   • Why Go: Love beer but don't know a lot about it? Join Morso on Saturday for its beer tasting class. By the end of the class, you will have a working knowledge of the origin and nature of beer, tasting methods and a wide range of classic and modern beer styles. Come by yourself or with a group of your friends to this fun and informative experience. Here's a chance to impress your friends with beer trivia at the Super Bowl party on Sunday!

  • Where/When: 5:30-7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 4 at .
  • Why: Join Harbor WildWatch this Saturday evening for "Pier into the Night." Using submersible lights and scopes that illuminate the water, participants will have the opportunity to view the marine activity in Gig Harbor at night. You'll see darting plankton, pulsing jellyfish and feasting squid. There will even be Naturalists on site to answer any questions you may have.
  • Cost: Free. Life jackets are available free of charge at the dock.

 

  • Where/When: 7:30 p.m. on Friday and Sunday, 3 p.m. on Sunday at .
  • Why Go: Join Paradise Theatre for the final weekend of One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest. This adaptation of the classic Ken Kesey's Novel is recommended for mature audiences and runs through Sunday, Feb. 5.
  • Cost: Tickets range between $10 and $22.

 

  • Where/When: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday.
  • Why Go: Bank of America is inviting its customers celebrate the new year through "Museums on Us" event. Just bring your Bank of America debit or credit card for free admission to the Northwest African American Museum, the Seattle Art Museum or Tacoma Art Museum.

I have seen orange flags (like the kind you use on the boat with a water skier) used at crosswalksRead More in Redmond. Perhaps putting a PVC pipe in the ground on either side of the road or attached to the nearby sign posts with a few flags inside for you to hold out/carry to the other side when you're crossing would be helpful?
