  • Where/When: 12-2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 29 at .
  • Why Go: Get out to Misty Meadows and try your hand at making cider with an old fashioned cider press. Bring a bag of clean apples and a jug to carry your cider home (an old rinsed out milk jug works great). The Cider Squeeze is outside, so make sure to wear clothing appropriate for the weather.
  • Cost: This free event is sponsored by Companionship, which provides social opportunities for kids of all abilities.

  • Why Go: The concert will feature the GHPSO's talented Clarinet Quartet. To find out more about the group, watch this YouTube video from the 2009 SCGS Holiday Concert.

  • Why Go: Check out champion master pumpkin sculptor, Russ Leno, do his thing this Friday on the pavilion at . He'll be carving one of giant pumpkin's grown on Holland’s Land O’Giants farm, located in the Sumner area.
  • Cost: Free.

 

  • Where/When: 7:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 29 at Kimball Park and Ride, 6808 Kimball Drive in Gig Harbor.
  • Why Go: Grab your costumes and lace up your running shoes for the annual Monster Dash. The race includes a free dash for kids and an 8K-and 2-mile-run for teens and adults. The best costume of the day and the overall male and female winners will each receive a free pair of shoes from . 
  • Cost: Registration ranges from $15 to $35 and includes a free T-shirt.

 

  • Where/When: 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 30 at .
  • Why Go: Looking for something really scary this Halloween? Try joining these crazy swimmers for a 1.9 mile swim from Kopachuck State Park to Cutts Island (Deadman's Island). Stick around after the swim and sit by the fire pit, drink hot apple cider and enjoy a bowl of seafood stew.
