  • Where/When: 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 8 along the Gig Harbor waterfront at Harborview and North Harborview.
  • Why Go: Join in on the salmon celebration this Saturday at the 5th annual Donkey Creek Chum Festival. The event begins at 10 a.m. with booths and kids events including pressed salmon art, child with a chum photography and more. Chum burgers will be on the grill beginning at noon and kayak races are from 2-3:30 p.m. followed by an awards ceremony at 4 p.m.
  • Cost: Admission is free.

  • Where/When: 11 a.m. - 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 8 at .
  • Why Go: Scarecrows will be taking over Homestead Park this Saturday at PenMet Parks' 2nd Annual Scarecrow Festival. The event will feature a scarecrow contest, carnival games, hayrides, food and fair treats, live music, a 5K run and even a beer garden. Be sure to stop by the Patch booth to say hi and to pick up some free Patch swag.
  • Cost: Admission is free.

 

  • Where/When: 8:30 a.m. - 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 8 in the Uptown Gig Harbor parking lot (next to the .)
  • Why Go: Originally the Gig Harbor Farmers Market was only supposed to run through Sept. 24, but due to a late, cold spring and early summer the market's season was extended two extra weeks. So take advantage of the extended season and make it to the market for all your favorite fresh flowers, produce, plants, food, handmade crafts and more. 
  • Cost: Admission is free.

 

  • Where/When: 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. on Saturday and 11 a.m. - 4 p.m. on Sunday at .
  • Why Go: Come out to the Gig Harbor Yacht Club this weekend for a craft sale featuring 24 high quality vendors and affordable prices. Expect to find candles, wearable art, jewelry, woodwork, metal art, pottery, glass art to fine art and more.
  • Cost: Admission is free.

 

  • Where/When: 11 a.m. to midnight, Friday and Saturday; 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday at the Puyallup Fairgrounds.
  • Why Go: Oktoberfest Northwest offers many attractions and activities that will delight and excite people of all ages. You didn't think it was all beer and brats did you?
  • Cost: Free on Friday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.; regular price after 3 p.m. on Friday and all day Saturday ($10); Sunday half price all day ($5), courtesy of BECU; children 12 and under free all weekend.

 

  • Where/When: 7-9:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday at Fort Nisqually Living History Museum.
  • Why Go: Take a peek into 1859 during a Fort Nisqually Living History Museum Candlelight Tour. These guided walking tours of the fort take place after dark with only the stars, campfires and candles to light the way.
  • Cost: Advance tickets required. $10 adults (13 & up), $7 children (4-12).

 

  • Where/When: 9 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 8 at .
  • Why Go:  The and Galaxy Theatre have joined forces to help raise money for the Jaycox Gig Harbor Police Benevolent Fund by offering $2 family movies every Saturday through Dec. 10. This week's featured film is the hilarious, family-friendly film Shrek 2. Enjoy the show!
  • Cost: Tickets are $2.
