Halloween City To Fill Borders Space — Temporarily

Halloween City, the special occasion retailer devoted to all things Halloween, will be taking up residence in the old Borders space for the months of September, October and November.

Halloween City, the seasonal retailer devoted to all things Halloween, will be moving into the old Borders bookstore space at the Uptown Gig Harbor mall for three months.

According to Uptown General Manager John Hogan, the store will occupy the space for the months of September, October and November. The effort to find a permanent tenant remains ongoing, he said.

The 23,000 square-foot retail space has been empty since April, when the as part of the national book seller's bankruptcy filing.

Numerous retailers have been rumored to be taking up the space since then, including most recently Nordstrom Rack and Home Goods, the discount home decor unit of TJ Maxx. But Hogan said there's no formal agreement as yet with any potential new tenant, adding that Uptown is still in discussions with three retailers.

Halloween City, a unit of the national Party City retail chain, is among the largest temporary sellers of Halloween costumes and decor in the U.S.
