Java & Clay Named Platinum Sponsor for Gig Harbor Paddlers Cup

The inaugural Gig Harbor Paddlers Cup will be held on April 28 and 29.

Gig Harbor’s Java & Clay has stepped up to lead the way as Platinum Sponsor for the Gig Harbor Paddlers Cup on April 28 and 29. The inaugural event will feature competitive paddle racing for kayaks, canoes and SUP (stand up paddle boards), to benefit the Gig Harbor Kayak Club and Surfrider Foundation.

“We feel that the community of Gig Harbor, the Gig Harbor Kayak Club and Surfrider Foundation are creating a family friendly event that serves us all,” said Randy Blue, who owns the downtown cafe with his wife Kelly. “We are thrilled to support its success."

Throughout the two-day event, races will take place in the harbor for kayaks, sprint kayaks and stand up paddler boards. Competitors are expected from throughout the region including Canada. The expo will feature paddle sport vendors as well as other vendors in the park at Skansie Brothers Park and Jerisich Dock located in historic downtown Gig Harbor.

For additional information about the Gig Harbor Paddlers Cup, contact event organizer Missy Hill at 253-230-3631 or Coach Alan Anderson 253-208-6365.
