Readers’ Choice: High Five to Big 5 Sporting Goods

Big 5 Sporting Goods is Gig Harbor’s favorite place to get sporting goods.

Like any good sports game, Gig Harbor’s sporting goods stores put up a good fight in .

After a very tight race, came out on top with the 184 votes from our readers.

Big 5 Sporting Goods is the largest retailer of name-brand sporting goods and accessories in the western United States. The store offers sporting goods from roller skates to ping pong tables. It also sells sunglasses, swimsuits, golf, basketball, football, baseball and fitness supplies.

Based on the votes and user reviews on Patch Places, and were also popular with the readers. They scored 130 and 174 votes, respectively.

The Fly Shop currently has an impressive 5-star rating on its Patch listing. One reader Kathleen Ruland wrote, “best shop in Gig Harbor” and Jim Blaisdell said the staff is “always eager to help you out with sound advice.”

That makes this an excellent time to remind readers that they can review any number of local businesses in the Patch directory. This is a great way to let your neighbors and visitors know which businesses you think are the best in town.

I have seen orange flags (like the kind you use on the boat with a water skier) used at crosswalksRead More in Redmond. Perhaps putting a PVC pipe in the ground on either side of the road or attached to the nearby sign posts with a few flags inside for you to hold out/carry to the other side when you're crossing would be helpful?
