The owner of Red Rooster Cafe, Jamie Radcliffe, announced on Friday, Dec. 28, that the waterfront restaurant in downtown Gig Harbor closed after her lease was revoked.

In the summer of 2011, the .

The cafe's landlords Stanley and Judith Stearns proposed the ordinance change after the restaurant was struggling under the limitations.

Radcliffe broke the news on Red Rooster Cafe's Facebook page:

My lease was revoked today. This was unexpected and I am truly sad for this loss. I put every ounce of my heart and soul into building the RR, but apparently God has another plan for me.

I have been informed that the building owner has arranged for someone else to re-open the restaurant within the next few months as the new owner.

I have not been informed who the new owner will be or exactly when the RR will re-open, but I would imagine that they will still take any gift certificates you may have recently purchased.

I hope with all of my heart that when the Red Rooster opens back up and that all of my wonderful regular customers and facebook friends will continue to love the RR.

Thank you all sincerely for spending the past 2.5 years with me! I am going to miss so many of you so much!!

We are officially closed.
