If you need a few last minute items for your Thanksgiving dinner, you're in luck. Grocery stores in Gig Harbor are open at least most of the day. So is the Galaxy Theatre, if you're in the mood for a movie after you eat. But most other businesses, banks and government offices are taking the day off.
Here's a roundup of holiday schedules:
Grocery stores: The major chains are open but operating on holiday hours on Thursday, Nov. 22. They will reopen at regular times on Friday.
- QFC: Closes at 6 p.m. Its pharmacy will be closed all day.
- Harbor Greens: 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- Albertson's: 6 a.m. - 4 p.m.
- Fred Meyer Marketplace: 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- Safeway will be open during its regular hours.
- Costco will be closed on Thursday, Nov. 22.
Government: All City of Gig Harbor administrative offices are closed on both Thursday and Friday. So are state and Pierce County offices and courts. Federal offices are closed Thursday, but reopen on Friday.
Pierce County Library System: All facilities, including those in Gig Harbor and Key Center, are closed Thursday and Friday.
Pierce Transit: Operating on Sunday schedules on Thursday, resuming regular weekday service on Friday. Administrative offices are closed both Thursday and Friday.
Banks: Closed Thursday.
Schools: All Peninsula School District schools and Tacoma Community College are closed Thursday and Friday.
Garbage and Recycling: All residential and some commercial pickups will be moved back one day on Thursday and Friday.
Gig Harbor Family YMCA: Open 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursday; 7 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. on Friday.
Restaurants: Most are closed on Thanksgiving. The few that are open, including turkey dinner at Brix 25 (1 p.m. - 8 p.m.) and Thanksgiving buffet at The Heritage Restaurant at the Inn at Gig Harbor (12 p.m. - 4 pm.). Reservations recommended.
