UPDATE: Massimo Not Closing In Purdy; Expanding To UP

The popular restaurant will move into the former building occupied by Captain Nemo's, which closed its doors earlier this month.

will remain open at its Purdy location, even as it expands to University Place.

The owners of the restaurant, Massimo and Cindy Terracciano, wrote in an e-mail to Patch that they are not closing their location near the Purdy spit.

"We are not closing the restaurant in Gig Harbor," the couple wrote. "We are expanding and opening a second location in University Place."

Earlier this month, Captain Nemo's announced it would be closing at its location off Bridgeport Way West after some three decades of operation. City officials later told Patch that the Italian restaurant, whose owners have deep ties to UP, would replace it.

The Terraccianos even eyed opening a location in the city's Town Center development, officials said.

Glad to hear we'll be able to enjoy Massimo's at Purdy for a long time to come!

Ugh. That's not good, Starla. How many times a week do you and husband cross, or at least try toRead More cross that crosswalk.

I have seen orange flags (like the kind you use on the boat with a water skier) used at crosswalksRead More in Redmond. Perhaps putting a PVC pipe in the ground on either side of the road or attached to the nearby sign posts with a few flags inside for you to hold out/carry to the other side when you're crossing would be helpful?

Brent, we cross it about at least once a week.
