UPDATE: Massimo Not Closing In Purdy; Expanding To UP

The popular restaurant will move into the former building occupied by Captain Nemo's, which closed its doors earlier this month.

will remain open at its Purdy location, even as it expands to University Place.

The owners of the restaurant, Massimo and Cindy Terracciano, wrote in an e-mail to Patch that they are not closing their location near the Purdy spit.

"We are not closing the restaurant in Gig Harbor," the couple wrote. "We are expanding and opening a second location in University Place."

Earlier this month, Captain Nemo's announced it would be closing at its location off Bridgeport Way West after some three decades of operation. City officials later told Patch that the Italian restaurant, whose owners have deep ties to UP, would replace it.

The Terraccianos even eyed opening a location in the city's Town Center development, officials said.
