Wolfgang Beck Named Gig Harbor Midday Rotary Student of the Month for October!GIG HARBOR, WA (September 2013): Gig Harbor Midday Rotary has named Wolfgang Beck as its Student of the Month for September.

GIG HARBOR, WA (September 2013):  Gig Harbor Midday Rotary has named Wolfgang Beck as its Student of the Month for September.   Beck is a 4.0 gpa Senior at Gig Harbor High School with a rigorous schedule of Advanced Placement courses.  He is a committed runner in both Cross Country and Track, currently 8th in the nation in cross country and finished 2nd in the State Meet last year.  He is an accomplished musician, currently singing in the Concert Choir as well as playing trombone in the Wind Symphony.   He composes, directs, manages, and plays trombone in his jazz orchestra, Arletta Sound.

 As a freshman, Beck won the David Diamond Young Composers' Contest put on by the Seattle Symphony.  In a concert at Benaroya Hall, the Seattle Symphony debuted his symphony Awakening: Three Sketches of Dawn.

Beck tutors other high school students preparing them for SAT tests, as well as science and math courses.  Already honored as a National Merit Semi-Finalist, he hopes to be selected as a Finalist early next year.   Mr. Beck hopes to attend an Ivy League school and eventually focus his career on cancer research.

Beck and his family have been invited to attend the Gig Harbor Midday Rotary luncheon to recognize his success, and to receive a Certificate of Achievement.
