  • Where/When: 5 p.m. - 7 p.m. on Friday, June 3 at .
  • Why Go: Start your weekend off with a complimentary wine tasting form Hestia Cellars at Morso this Friday. Hestia Cellars is a premiere winery from Carnation, Washington with vineyards in the Columbia Valley. After the tasting, be sure to check out Fourth Phase: Early Images the art exhibit on display in the Morso Gallery.
  • Cost: No tasting fee. 20 percent off selected wines during the tasting.

  • Where/When: 7 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday in downtown Gig Harbor.
  •  Why Go: Come out and enjoy the annual Maritime Gig Festival. The various activities throughout the weekend will include the Grand Parade, The Valentines Performing Pigs, the blessing of the fleet and much more. The festival will take place downtown along Harborview Drive, between Pioneer and Rosedale, and along the waterfront near and . Click here for the complete schedule of events.
  • Cost: Admission is free. 

 

  • Where/When: 3 p.m. on Sunday, June 5 at the  auditorium.
  • Why Go: The Peninsula Youth Orchestra will perform its Spring Concert in the Peninsula High School auditorium this Sunday. Come and watch the four orchestras (beginners to advanced) perform and be prepared to be amazed at what these little guys can do. Can make it on Sunday? Catch their performance at the Maritime Gig Festival's main stage on Saturday at noon.
  • Cost: Admission is free.

  • Where/When: 10 a.m. - 4 p.m on Friday through Sunday at  in Lakewood.
  • Why Go: Join the Rainier League of Arts and Lakewold Gardens as they present Spring Is In the Air, an art show taking place in the historic Wagner House of Lakewold Gardens this weekend. The show will feature 70 paintings, blown glass and sculptures by local artists, who will also be painting live in the gardens. In addition to the art show, there will be a reception for the artists from 3 p.m. - 4 p.m. on Sunday.
  • Cost: Entry fee $7 - $5, children under 12 are free.

 

  • Where/When: 7 a.m. on Sunday, June 5 at the Gig Harbor Medical Pavilion, 6401 Kimball Dr.
  • Why Go: Join the Tacoma Wheelmen's Bicycle Club this Sunday for a challenging ride through the scenic Kitsap Peninsula. You'll enjoy panoramic waterfront views, rural countryside, and lots of rolling hills. Choose from routes of 50K, 100K or 100 miles at two convenient start locations. Riders will enjoy a well-marked course with cue sheets and maps, support vehicles and fully stocked rest stops. There will even be dessert at the finish line!
  • Cost: Registration is $20, online registration ends on Saturday, June 4. 

 

  • Where/When: Saturday and Sunday at the Puyallup Fair Grounds, 110 9th Ave. SW.
  • Why Go: Mother Earth News magazine has been a voice for the counter-cultural, back-to-the-land movement for 41 years. And this weekend, it's bringing that voice to the Puyallup Fairgrounds. The two day event will feature numerous workshops (gardening, green building, renewable energy), live music, organic and local food tasting, kids's activities, eco-building demonstration, a huge eco-friendly marketplace, many influential speakers and educational exhibitions.
  • Cost: One day pass: $15; Two day pass: $25; Ages 17 and under: Free.
