Gig Harbor Sees 10 Percent Increase in Population Since 2000
According to the U.S. Census, the population for the city of Gig Harbor jumped 10.2 percent in the past decade. The rest of the Gig Harbor Peninsula grew by 13.6 percent.
According to new data released by the U.S. Census Bureau on Wednesday, the population for Gig Harbor grew by more than 600 people in the past decade.
The population in the city of Gig Harbor rose from 6,465 in 2000 to 7,126 in 2010, an increase of about 10.2 percent.
According to the Census County Division numbers, the Gig Harbor peninsula's population grew from 42,763 in 2000 to 48,599 in 2010, an increase of more than 5,800 people or about 13.6 percent.

The top six most populous Washington cities remained unchanged. They are, respectively: Seattle, Spokane, Tacoma, Vancouver, Bellevue and Everett.
Meanwhile, Pierce County continues to trail King County for the second most populous county in the state with 795,225 people. The number grew from 700,819 in 2000, which is about a 13.5 percent increase.
