(Editor's note: This is from Joint Base Lewis-McChord)
On Tuesday, September 11, those who work and live at Joint Base Lewis-McChord will take time to remember 9/11.
Fire Stations and Law Enforcement:
At all Fire Stations on JBLM there will be a moment of silence at approximately 5:46 a.m. (PDT) on Sept. 11 - the time the first plane hit the World Trade Center tower.
For Law Enforcement personnel there will be a moment of silence at the three guard mounts (shift changes) throughout the day. Guard mount refers to the pre-shift official formation of security force members where they are inspected and assessed prior to taking their post.
All Firefighters & Police/Guards will wear badge shrouds that day.
Four Chaplain Memorial Chapel Prayer and Candle Lighting:
The Four Chaplains Memorial Chapel on JBLM Lewis Main will be open from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Sept. 11 for people to go to – and remember the events of 9/11. Chaplain (Col.) Bart Physioc, the JBLM installation chaplain, will give a brief message at noon.
This will be a simple and toned-down venue, but meaningful, and will include a prayer offering and candle lighting. The candles will remain lighted all day to remember the men and women who died on 9/11.
Madigan Army Medical Center Remembrance Ceremony:
Madigan Army Medical Center will host a 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony at 11:30 a.m. on Sept. 11 at the Madigan Pond. This will be a small ceremony featuring comments from Madigan leadership and quiet time for staff and visitors to reflect.
