If you're not sick of them already, today's the day to celebrate the world's largest fruit (the giant pumpkin) and its smaller kin.

Pumpkins are the harbinger of the harvest season, appearing every year as the first sign of autumn.

The United States produces about 1.5 billion pounds of them each year, including a Rhode Island man recently smashed the world record by growing a whopping 2,009-pound gourd this year!
