If you're curious, I didn't get a chance to eat a traditional turkey dinner for Thanksgiving this year. After asking around, I've found out that typical grocery stores in Japan don't carry turkey. One--they're too heavy for people to carry home by foot. Two--most ovens in Japan aren't big enough to cook a whole turkey.

I was told that turkey, mashed potatoes and stuffing were available at certain restaurants in Tokyo. But sure enough, reservations were all full by the time I found out.
Turkey or no turkey, I'm thankful for being part of such a wonderful community. After experiencing a week in a crowded city, I'm glad to be back in the Pacific Northwest!
