Wind Advisory in Effect Starting Monday 5 p.m.

Strong winds up to 30 mph is expected from 5 p.m. today through 5 a.m. Tuesday.

The National Weather Service in Seattle has issued a wind advisory for Monday afternoon.

The advisory is in effect starting 5 p.m. today to 5 a.m. Tuesday morning in Tacoma, Seattle, Bremerton and rest of the Western Washington area.

The southwest winds will increase to 20 to 30 mph with gusts to 45 mph late this afternoon. Winds will continue into the late night hours.

Weakened trees and falling branches may results in local power outages at times.

Trees that still have some or all of their leaves could heighten the impact of the wind on the trees, according to the National Weather Service.

  • Monday: Rain. Some of the storms could produce heavy rainfall. High near 62. Southwest wind 10 to 13 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100 percent.
  • Monday Night: Showers and possibly a thunderstorm. Low around 50. Windy, with a southwest wind 25 to 30 mph decreasing to 15 to 20 mph after midnight. Winds could gust as high as 39 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80 percent.
  • Tuesday: Showers. High near 56. West southwest wind 14 to 17 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80 percent.
  • Tuesday Night: A 40 percent chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 43. West southwest wind around 14 mph.
  • Wednesday: Partly sunny, with a high near 56. South southeast wind around 5 mph becoming light and variable in the morning.
  • Wednesday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 44.
