Alliance of Women Owned Businesses (AWOB)'s Annual Event - "Better Together"

OVER 100 BUSINESS WOMEN IN WEST AND SOUTH PUGET SOUND HAVE DISCOVERED THEY ARE BETTER TOGETHER.  

Hosted by the Alliance of Women Owned Businesses (AWOB), the professional women of west and south Puget Sound will gather on October 21st for a unique celebration:  after only three years, membership is now over 100. The “Better Together” gathering at Key Bank, Pt. Fosdick Branch, from 6pm-8pm is an annual event designed to celebrate the Alliance’s accomplishments and to encourage new members. Hosted by AWOB, there will be an opportunity to enjoy complementary wine, small bites, fun and prizes. The big attraction, however, is the enriching opportunity attendees have to meet some of the most interesting, hard working women entrepreneurs in the south and west Sound.  

A relatively new organization, AWOB, is growing at more than 20% per year. The secret magnet that prompts this rapid growth is the diverse nature of AWOB’s membership.  Not only is there a wide range in type, size and age of the businesses represented, the members bring a vast range of experience, skill-sets and age. Together they help each other take their respective businesses to the next level. The aim of AWOB is to empower, enrich and educate women business owners.   

“There is a place in our organization for anyone who supports women business owners,” declares Lisa Markman, AWOB President. Markman points out that there are three basic levels of membership which includes the woman who owns her own business, is a partner in a business or an independent contractor, or a commission-based professional. Membership is also open to business students, retired business owners, non-profits, companies or trade associations that support women business owners. Partner and secondary memberships are offered at reduced rates.  

“Our membership represents a vital component of our local economy and our community. We urge anyone who might be interested in supporting women business owners in our community to join us on the 21st. We hope they like what they see and decide to join us,” Markman added.
