AWOB October Power Series Panel Discussion

Learn How to Turn Your Messes Into Successes with local business and community leader Dyann Lyon at The Alliance of Women Owned Businesses Monthly Power Series Wednesday, October 9 at 5pm at the Inn at Gig Harbor.
"There's not a person alive, or dead, that didn’t make a mess of things at times,” says Lyon, who is a Usana Health Sciences Gold Director and has owned more than one successful business in her long career in the south Sound. “If they didn’t, they weren’t living, that’s for sure!" AWOB’s Power Series is a public offering from this membership group, founded in 2010 to serve women business owners in the south and west Sound. In only three years, membership has grown to over 100 and programming includes multiple monthly and annual offerings designed to educate and empower women entrepreneurs. During the October 9 meeting, Lyon will give us a look inside how she has built her businesses and chosen to be a self-proclaimed "Overcomer".
"I always thought of myself as rebellious and thought that was why I made so many messes in my life. It is only recently that I have come to realize I have simply been an adventurous spirit, and I had no map and no guide to help me navigate the terrain." Lyon was a successful Realtor who co-founded Lyon & Brown in 1990. She was once a work-a-holic, but her husband’s sudden death of a heart attack while they were vacationing on Maui was her wake-up call to re-evaluate and redesign her life. She went from living on auto-pilot to choosing every aspect of her life consciously.
“If we apply what we learn from our failures, we can be stronger and more resilient in the future making us better business people and more successful in every area of our life,” Lyon relates. “I’ve recently been through a Murano glass factory and learned that glass goes through the fire and comes out stronger on the other side. We too are stronger after being tested.”
Lyon, who is a valued member of AWOB and was awarded the South Sound Business and Professional Women’s Woman of the Year in 2012, now lives a life she loves and helps others to do the same.
AWOB is a community of women who share the experience of owning their own businesses. Our mission is to empower women to achieve higher levels of business success. We do this by providing powerful year-round programming focused on education, inspiration and information that is of interest to women business owners. AWOB is a non-profit  501c(6) membership organization founded in 2010 by a group of women business owners who had a vision of creating a community of learning and support for their peers in Pierce, Kitsap, Mason and Thurston counties. A volunteer board drives the AWOB mission, directs development, coordinates programming and offers activities to the business community to support the interests and needs of women business owners.
