For lovers of the bagpipes, the next best thing to watching the exciting Scottish Highland games is dancing at the Tartan Ball. Clan Gordon Pipe Band is inviting the public to their 50th Annual Tartan Ball, a celebratory affair, to be held Saturday March 23rd at the Puyallup Fairgrounds Pavilion in Puyallup, Washington.

At this glorious event tartans of different clans are worn by Scots and their descendants, but the celebrated tartan of the evening is that of Clan Gordon. However, people of any ancestry can wear a tartan to this dressy affair, as long as they love the Scottish culture and its traditional music of the bagpipes. There will be a rock/blues band performing as well to keep everyone moving, between the special traditional Scottish music and dance sets.

A piper of the band, Bruce Corns of Tacoma, describes the Tartan Ball akin to “being at a wedding but no one’s getting married.” It’s an occasion where a Scot enjoys mingling, renewing friendship with a long lost cousin, or a distant relation, or just sharing knowledge with a fan of traditional Scottish music, dress and dance.

Tables are reserved for up to 10 people so get your “clan” together for a glorious time.  Doors open at 7:30 p.m. There will be an open bar; and for sure there will be Scotch.

The tickets are already being sold online at the Clan Gordon Pipe Band’s website at www.cgpb.org.  They are $20 in advance; $25 at the door. All proceeds go the Clan Gordon Pipe Band to help purchase the $800 and up band uniforms and to cover other performance expenses.
