Gig Harbor Students: Submit your Videos to the Red Cross!

Gather your friends and your family and create a unique video that speaks to your understanding of what it means to handle the unexpected.

If you are a student with an eye for the video camera and want to see your name in lights...here's your chance! Gather your friends and your family and create a unique video that speaks to your understanding of what it means to handle the unexpected.

In an effort to spread the news about their important Emergency Preparedness Campaign called "Safe in the Sound," the local Red Cross is asking students of all ages to submit videos demonstrating what emergency preparedness means to them.

Emily Fortman, Director of Preparedness and Community Engagement, hopes that the mulitmedia platform will increase disaster awareness.

“This is a great way for everyone, especially youth, to get involved in preparedness,” Fortman said. “Individuals, classes and community organizations have a chance to shine here. Preparedness means something different to everyone, so why not creatively show that?"

Safe in the Sound is a three-year public awareness campaign designed to help individuals and communities prepare for every type of disaster. Potential video themes include Getting a Kit, Making a Plan and Being Informed.
