Gig Harbor Teacher Raising Money for Swaziland Charity Trip

The African Adventure Fun Kids Day on Aug. 7 benefits Tiersa Chaffin, who teaches at Stepping Stones to Learning in Gig Harbor.

A Gig Harbor preschool teacher is raising money as she prepares to embark on a teaching trip to Swaziland.

An African Adventure Fun Kids Day on Aug. 7 benefits Tiersa Chaffin, who teaches at Stepping Stones to Learning in Gig Harbor. 

Chaffin has been recently accepted to teach at New Life Homes, which provides a permanent home in a Christian environment for African children who are orphaned or abandoned and have no other alternative for care.

The fundraising event will take place at the City Park at Crescent Creek from 2 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

The event features an obstacle course, door prizes and water balloon fight. Musician Jim Valley will also be performing children's music at 5:30 p.m.

Tickets cost $15 per child or $30 for families of 3 children or more. Children 2 and under can attend for free. 

Tickets are available for purchase at several Gig Harbor locations, including Galaxy Theaters, Uptown Cutters Point, Jersey Mike's Subs, Cougar Wear and Java and Clay.
