Insurance 101- Does your Homeowners or Renters insurance cover ALL your personal possessions?

Does your Homeowners or Renters insurance cover ALL your personal possessions???

I hope all of you are enjoying this amazing sunshine we have had of late here in western Washington. I am loving it!

I wanted to take a moment and explain something that too many people don't know or understand. Homeowners or renters insurance policies have separate limits on certain types of items. I know most of you probably don't care but hang with me here because this is too important to ignore.

As an example, theft coverage for some items in a homeowner or renter policy have lower sub-limits. These items with lower limits are jewelry, firearms, imported rugs and cash. These sub-limits with some companies are as low as $100. You can get higher coverages for most of these items. However, if your agent doesn't ask about it how would you know?

The worst thing that could happen in insurance is to think you are covered, and then when something happens to be told you aren't....

Please, please, please take a moment to talk with your insurance professional to make sure everything you think is covered, is covered. If you need a hand understanding what is or isn't, give me a call. I can review your homeowner or renter policy even if it isn't with my agency. I am here to help you with all of your insurance needs.

The bitterness of poor coverage lingers long after the sweet price is forgotten.
