Kimberly Gartland says: "Is that a nicety or a necessity?” How Home Buyers Have Changed Their Wish List

Reevaluation of what a buyer is looking for in a home in light of this economic climate in the USA today.

“Is that a nicety or a necessity?”  How Home Buyers Have Changed Their Wish List

Home buyers have reevaluated their needs after the recent economic down turn and it’s being reflected in the homes they are purchasing.  Of course home builders are eager to stay ahead of the game and build what consumers’ new
demands are.  Hill and Son Construction, Inc.  and Andersen Homes are two of my favorites!

What would be at the top of your list of necessities if you were purchasing today?  When I receive “wish lists” from buyers I have to ask “Now is that a nicety or a necessity?” (Something we have all had to rethink lately.)

According to the National Association of Home Builders nine out of ten buyers would rather buy a home with energy-efficient features and permanently lower utility bills.  The survey states that 62% of buyers are willing to forgo the space of a large McMansions and enjoy high-end amenities instead.  Double sinks in the kitchen, both a tub and shower stall in the bathroom, storage systems in the garage and yes, technology.  Everything from wireless home security systems to whole-house electric features that control entertainment and utilities.

What are buyers willing to give up other than space?  They aren’t looking for golf course communities or elevators according to the study.  They want outdoor space however not necessarily an outdoor kitchen. What do you want in your next home?  Call me and lets chat about it!
