Gig Harbor High grad, Rebecca "Bex" Hale, will display her design expertise to the nation as a finalist on Season 7 of HGTV's Design Star television series. Chosen as one of the top 12 designers in the country, she will compete in various challenges, hoping to win the grand prize: her own show on HGTV.

The show, hosted by Season 1 winner David Bromstad, premieres tonight at 8 p.m.

Hale graduated from and earned a B.S. in industrial technology from Abilene Christian University in 1997. She then opened Relics Home, a retail furniture store and interior design center in downtown Abilene, TX. She currently assists commercial and residential clients both in Abilene and around the country.

Hale favors an "art eco" style that makes use of green design methods andindustrial materials. One of her projects, a San Francisco restaurant remodel, used 100 percent recycled materials.

Finalists will be eliminated based on their work until only one contestant remains. Viewers may vote up to 10 times daily for the "fan favorite" designer.

Read Hale's bio on the HGTV site, or vote for Hale as a fan favorite.
