A Lie named Indifference
I lied to you from the beginning
and in such good company 'tis true
for there is another bird who's
name has never been uttered.
He dwells within his own
self imposed banishment.
Venturing close only to feed
on another's emotions or
flesh.
He has not the ability
to create anything and so
he sets out to destroy all.
you can find him sitting
at the side of the favored, the
charmed one in this life.
He will drain them out.
A fine slit across a bare throat.
A sharp, narrow beak dipped
in scarlet.
He will play court jester,
if it gets him closer to
the throne.
He does not wish to possess
it, no he means to tear
asunder the jewels of the exalted
to make off with a crown he
can never wear.
He is the only one who is adorned with a
mask to hide just who he is. It is not a
wicked image he secretes, but one
far worse. If ever he removed his disguise
his truth would be daunting
blank eyes of nothingness, pools of cold stillness
set in a landscape of an empty void more
frightening than any of the others.
They at least were honest sinners, not so this
clever, iniquitous rook.
while the they scheme and vie
for titles most evil amongst the clutch,
to be known as the one
who's name should carry the most fear
this black loathsome thing
gives it not a trouble.
Apathy complete
His is the deadliest sin of all.
Neither Wrath nor Envy nor even Pride
could measure the shadow that he casts.
He offends God completely by finding
neither joy nor sorrow in any of his Master's
labors. For it is right to burn with rage at
an offense, to wish for another's luck,
however to find indifference in all things
is the greatest transgression, to remain unmoved
by all, a practiced nonchalance unrepentant.
While the Seven know to bow their heads
when gathered near The Mercy Seat,
Indifference simply stares at his Maker
his thoughts set to prey. He is unmoved
by anything. It is only pity that extends
his existence. A limitless patience no
Earthly being could maintain.
No one dares ask why he was
created,
by mistake or some greater plan.
He is given such a wide birth.
For the others know
his days are numbered
all seven learned long ago
you cannot out pace God.
