And these classes really do fill up fast so sign up soon.  It was a full house at last month’s class.  There were four “stations” which we rotated around to learn about Soil Testing and Amendments, Garden Pitfalls, Garden Planning, and How to Decide What and How Much to Plant.  It’s also a great opportunity for meeting fellow gardeners and comparing “war stories.”  I met so many friendly people who were willing to share their hard-won knowledge of local gardening tips.

My big “scores” for the night:  learning about floating row covers, finding that there are inexpensive , that a blog modernvictorygarden.com has some amazing information about local gardening, and finally that the last “killing frost” this years is April 17th.  There was so much more than that.  I recommend you bring a pad of paper to take notes and to share contact information with others you meet.  Friendships seemed to be blooming (sorry!) everywhere.

These classes will be held once a month and will progress in topic according to what is important for that time of the growing season.  We will be taken through (just to name a few) planting, fertilizing, pest control, pruning, harvesting, and even how to use and preserve your crops.  Stay tuned to Patch for upcoming dates and topics of these classes.
