University of Washington tight end and Gig Harbor High product Austin Seferian-Jenkins was cited for DUI on Saturday night in Seattle, according to media reports.
The 20-year-old tight end was one of several people whose car was pulled over by police on Northeast Ravenna, according to a report by The Seattle Times.
The newspaper is reporting that Seferian-Jenkins was driving, although that hasn't been confirmed by authorities.
Washington Coach Steve Sarkisian released a statement following the incident:
We are aware of an incident that occurred Saturday evening involving Austin Seferian-Jenkins. We are taking the matter very seriously. Austin made decisions that fall short of our expectations for student-athletes who represent the University of Washington. He will be disciplined internally in accordance with team and departmental policies. We will continue to support Austin throughout this process, while also holding him accountable and responsible for his actions.
