California Amber Alert: Suspect's Car Found Abandoned in Idaho

Police say James Lee DiMaggio and missing California girl Hannah Anderson, 16, may have been seen near Cascade, Idaho, on Wednesday.

An Amber Alert out of California has been expanded to Idaho, where police have found murder and kidnapping suspect James Lee DiMaggio's car abandoned in the wilderness.

According to CNN, the vehicle was found hidden in some brush with its license plates removed. Authorities matched the car to DiMaggio using its VIN number.

DiMaggio, 40, is accused of kidnapping California teenager Hannah Anderson, 16, after murdering her mother. Christina Anderson's body was found Sunday in a house fire at DiMaggio's home, located east of San Diego. The body of an unidentified child was also found in the blaze, and authorities are working to determine whether it belongs to Hannah's brother, 8-year-old Ethan Anderson.

Police believe DiMaggio may have had an "unusual infatuation" with the teenager.

The discovery of DiMaggio's car came after horseback riders reported seeing two people who looked like DiMaggio and Hannah Anderson near Cascade, Idaho, on Wednesday. The pair were carrying backpacks and a tent, according to reports.

More details are available via CNN and the Associated Press.
