Gig Harbor Fire and Medic One responded to a rollover accident on Burnham Drive. Firefighters also responded to a burn complaint near Raft Island.

On Aug. 5, a 67-year-old woman fell while walking in the downtown area late in the evening. Medics were called to evaluate her for minor injuries. She was stable and transported to the hospital for further evaluation.

On Aug. 6, firefighters responded to a reported rollover accident on Burnham Drive. Upon arrival they found a pick-up truck on its side with a trailer attached. Both occupants were able to exit the vehicle before the fire and EMS units arrived. Both reported no injuries and were not transported to the hospital.

On Aug. 7, a 27-year-old man called 911 after feeling nauseous and experiencing short of breath. After assessment by a medic crew, he was treated and transported to the hospital for further care.

On Aug. 8, a male employee of a local retirement facility was sprayed in the eye with a chemical disinfectant. The patient immediately starting flushing his eyes in the flush station that was located in the same room as the incident. After he was evaluated by medics, he was transported to the hospital by a co-worker.

On Aug. 9, a 29-year-old male was struck in the head by a tree limb while falling from a different tree. He reported only minor injuries to medics at the scene but was transport to the hospital as a precaution. He was wearing a helmet.

On Aug. 9, firefighters were dispatched to a burn complaint on the beach near Raft Island. After investigation, they found a group of teenagers roasting marshmallows in a fire pit on the beach. The group was cooperative with the firefighters and extinguished the fire.  

On Aug. 10, the medics responded to evaluate two patients who had fallen at a retirement center. One patient was attempting to assist another when he also fell. Medics determined that one was not injured. However, the second patient was transported to the hospital for further evaluation.  

On Aug. 10, firefighters were dispatched to a small grass fire that was started by a home owner who was burning his weeds with a propane torch. The home owner was advised there was a burn ban in place, and all fires were quickly extinguished without property damage.

On Aug. 11, responded to a report of a motor vehicle collision on Highway 16. Upon arrival, EMS crews determined there were no injuries. A full size pick-up had blown a tire and was able to steer the vehicle to the side of the road but struck the guard rail in the process. There was a minor damage to the vehicle, and all occupants were wearing their seat belts.
